Climbers were greeted by clear blue skies as they decended into Horseshoe Canyon Ranch on Friday afternoon.  Packet pickup brought old friends together along with new ones forged.  The pasta dinner was a riot from the start with slackers tricking all night long on the lines.  Joes from Slackline Express put on a killer comp while Daniel Chancellor and Mid August Night rocked the stage.  The place was packed with rowdy climbers dancing, eating, drinking, slacking and taking it all in.  An impromptu dyno comp fired up on the wall as well.  While our SoCal visitors and others partied late into the night, most retired early in preparation for the impending challenge.

Cloudless weather dominated the landscape all weekend, and Sat morning was killer temps as psyched climbers began to gather around the pro shop for precomp meeting.  As the shotgun blasted, 194 climbers spread out like buckshot for Mullet Buttress, The Far East, Magoo Rock, Roman Wall, Crackhouse Alley and The North Forty.  Clay Frisbie and Todd Johnson (Team Petra) duked it out with Jeremy Collins and Josh Carrick (Bomb Squad Explosives Division) for first place in the team division.  They were neck and neck heading into the darkness when Petra hit the quiet walls of Crackhouse Alley and Bomb Squad ran into the crowded North Forty.  Petra got the edge and cruised to the win, defending their 2006 title and upping the ante from last years 19,270 points to 33,900.  Todd also nabbed the advanced individual title, edging Josh Carrick by only 30 points (a 5.6 is worth 60).  Amanda Smith's crimp strength held on long enough for her to coast to a comfortable victory in the women's individual division for her second straight year.

Congratulations to those who climbed crazy hard and fought through the pain for team and individual wins, personal bests, and the completion of a challenging conquest.  For most, it's hard to fathom how difficult it is to climb non-shot for 24 hours continuously.  Well 99 climbers managed to claim that feat this year in addition to many other stories, too many to spray them all.  We want to hear more from you on the forum, but here are a few highlights:

*Doug Englekirk flying in from Nevada to onsight every 5.12 he could find, cruising the 5.12a Lavender Eye at 4 am after 18 hours of hard climbing.

*Travis Donn and Jesse Gross logged a mind boggling record team total of 199 routes during their 24 hour jaunt.

* Natalie Neal and Dick Dower, our hard core 24HHH trusties who combined their age of 100 years and took home "24 hour" honors.  Natalie also brought home 2nd place in the women's individual division.

Our sponsors came through with sick amounts of swag for everyone and the competitors were able to donate $4000 of their entry fees to The Access Fund.  Thanks to our volunteers for roaming the crag areas and putting in a lot of tireless work during the event.  Much thanks also goes out to Barry at Horseshoe Canyon Ranch for letting us bring this crazy time to his property!!!!!
